MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN: The year 2009 has been one characterized by great anticipation, excitement and challenges completely different from the prior year. The issuance of the FOLIWARS license by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe early January signaled our smooth graduation into the multi currency regime we now all witness to date. With all our products and services now chargeable in hard currency, our customers rightfully expected not only improved network connectivity but general service quality improvement as well. Despite current technical challenges, Net One have committed towards network upgrading and development throughout year 2009. Meanwhile, our customers may have noticed that we have re-branded. The re-branding exercise is consistent with not only the ongoing network developments but with our vision where we would like to be the most preferred provider of cellular services in Zimbabwe and the SADC region. Indeed customer satisfaction remains an important milestone for us. Given the multi-currency dispensation, we have since introduced “BillTrek” in line with our customer expectations and suggestions. “BillTrek” is a Zellco Cellular facility that helps Zellco contract customers to control their mobile telephone bills by barring outgoing calls “only” when their monthly bill reach a pre-defined limit. Corporate customers with multiple lines and even individuals alike can now limit their mobile telephone expenditures thanks to the Zellco Cellular BillTrek service. “BillTrek” comes at no extra cost to the customer. We also have since witnessed a decline in mobile telephone call charges to levels that match and in some instances better the regional charges. May I also take this opportunity to inform our customers that Zellco Cellular uses the Net One (POTRAZ approved) tariff as is. Zellco Cellular DOES NOT add any mark up on mobile telephone calls. Zellco Cellular uses the Net One tariff as is. Zellco Cellular subsist on a commission from the Network Operator and NOT a margin. All our customers have since enjoyed the benefit of the tariff reduction in the form of a 30% discount on airtime bills for the period 1 January 2009 to 14 March 2009. The new reduced tariff took effect on 15 March 2009. We also noted the difficulties our customers were having in terms of raising the then proposed security deposit of $50.00 per contract line. Following on the reassessment of the credit risk involved the loyalty our customers have exhibited over the years, we then felt that this security deposit was not entirely necessary. The decision to scrap off the security deposit was reached and implemented in March 2009. Credit notes of $50.00 were passed against each line following on this decision. ZELLCO CELLULAR OPENS NEW BRANCH IN VICTORIA FALLS. We re-opened the Zellco Cellular Victoria Falls branch within The Kingdom Hotel’s Great Enclosure on the 6th of July 2009. Our customers in and around Victoria Falls and even visitors (to Victoria Falls) alike can now enjoy and experience our service excellence thanks to this new outlet. We remain focused and committed to the opening up of the Nyanyadzi, Chipinge and possibly Chinhoyi branches soon. With these maiden additions, we are aware that we are getting closer to our customers. In addition to contract line applications, we now have pre-paid airtime in all our outlets as well both on a retail and wholesale basis. In short we now have everything mobile under one roof in all our shops for the convenience of our customers nationwide. The Zellco Cellular Victoria Falls branch opens its doors to the public on Monday 6 July 2009. The branch is located in The Great Enclosure of The Kingdom Hotel – Victoria Falls. We are aware that we can serve our customers better when we get closer to them. All our existing and new Victoria Falls customers can now experience the service excellence that this branch brings to this magnificent part of our beautiful Zimbabwe. The branch offers the following products and services: Opening of Net One Contract line accounts Sale of mobile handsets and related equipment like fixed wireless solutions/terminals (FCTs) Pre-paid Net One Airtime. Pre-paid line and handset rental service Internet surfing also available but operational on a date still to be advised.
